The Announcement
Aldar announced Noma Al Saadiyat during Frieze London in October 2026. The name stands for North of Manarat Al Saadiyat, placing the neighbourhood in the Saadiyat Cultural District, directly beside the exhibition centre that has held Abu Dhabi's art calendar since 2011.
Aldar is the official fair partner of Frieze Abu Dhabi, which runs from 19 to 22 November 2026. The Noma site is set to become one of the fair's venues, so the neighbourhood is already tied to the week when galleries and collectors gather on the island. The Noma site previously hosted editions of Abu Dhabi Art.
Aldar's vision is a creative district where artists, galleries, and creative businesses can build lasting roots in Abu Dhabi, rather than visiting only for fair week. That sits within a wider Gulf move to give artists permanent studio and gallery infrastructure, following models in London, Seoul, and Los Angeles.

A creative neighbourhood where the international art community can put down roots, beside the opening venue of Frieze Abu Dhabi and among the museums of Saadiyat Island.

The Island
Saadiyat Island lies approximately 500 metres off the Abu Dhabi coastline. Its Cultural District covers roughly 2.4 square kilometres at the island's western end and gathers a rare concentration of major cultural institutions. Noma Al Saadiyat adds a permanent creative neighbourhood to this context, designed to give artists, galleries, and creative businesses a place to work and live year-round, rather than simply visiting for fairs and exhibitions.

The Vision
Aldar has described Noma as a creative neighbourhood, using the term used in cities like London and New York for districts that combine artist studios, gallery spaces, workshops, design offices, cafes, and housing in walkable streets. The name takes its cue from New York's SoHo and Tribeca, carved from the streets around it rather than imposed from outside.
Full plans, a masterplan, unit details, and a timeline have not yet been published by Aldar. Register your interest below to receive priority updates.
